Biomass Applications

Biomass Applications

Biomass is biological material derived from living, or recently living organisms. It most often refers to plants or plant-based materials which are specifically called lignocellulosic biomass. Wood remains the largest biomass energy source to date.

Wood based Biomass comes in various forms. The two main types are woodchip and pellets. A list of certified suppliers can be found on the UK Government website.

The systems that we supply can use either woodchip or pellets giving us the flexibility to provide the end user with the best package for their site.

In all of our recent sites to date we use the Twin heat Biomass Boiler. Although there are various Biomass Boiler providers we find that the robust, reliable nature and product range of twin heat gives us the best solution.

Our Biomass energy solutions are available fully containerised with the biomass technology, and fuel storage all included. However where outside space is not readily available we are also able to incorporate systems solutions into existing plant rooms subject to survey.

Biomass applications may attract RHI (Renewable Heat Incentive) available only in Northern Ireland, UK, Scotland & Wales. Further details may be found here: Non-domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) .

Benefits from Biomass:

  • Attracts RHI payments
  • Less expensive compared with fossil fuels such as oil & LPG
  • Green status credentials achieved for your business
  • Creates jobs with local suppliers
  • Benefits through the carbon trust offsets CO2 emissions
  • Good commercial paybacks are realistic and achievable

Containerised Biomass Systems

Containerised Biomass Systems

Our Favoured solution is the Biomass containerised solution. Whether it fuelled by traditional Biomass only or Biomass derived from material available at your site. We have a range of Bionova digester technology suitable to convert your existing material (such as food waste) into a biomass fuel to supplement traditional materials.

A digester, fuel handling and boiler combination it’s quick and easier to install as a modular system.

Turnkey solution includes:

  • A suitably sized Digester to process organic materials
  • Relevant auger/conveyor systems suitable to support the integrated system
  • Biomass fuel storage facilities
  • Biomass boiler
  • Associated mechanical components
  • Heat storage, heat exchangers and buffers as required to integrate with your existing systems

Typical containerised Biomass Solutions serving the famous award winning Headland hotel.

  • Woodchip based
  • Food waste processing facilities
  • Turnkey solution for fuel supply, heat creation and distribution
  • This system was deliver in modular form as 'Plug and play'

CS Industrial Biomass Boilers

The TwinHeat CS INDUSTRIAL range provides an effective solution for commercial heating. Three models provide an output range of 90 – 200kW, which are fed by an external storage silo such as the TwinHeat Quattro or Walking Floor. TwinHeat boilers automatically burn Wood Pellets, Wood Chip & Cereal Grain. The CS is fitted with an additional draft fan as standard and can be equipped with automatic de-ashing, automatic cleaning of heat exchanger and a telephone modem which sends a text message in case of a fault alarm. This system requires a 3 phase 400 volt – 32 amps electrical supply. All the TwinHeat range has been tested and granted approval by the Danish Technological Institute in accordance with DS/EN305-5.
